India is the largest democracy in the world. Besides this, India is also the second largest country in the world by population but India is not a popular travel destination for international tourists. So, which are the reasons for it?

1. Security
In India, security is main issue for women travellers from around the world. Rape cases are the most popular incidents happens in many metro cities of India. Most of International women travellers read these types of news and cancel their trip to India just because of rape incidents.
So, Government should maintain law and order in the country to feel International travellers especially women feel secure in any part of the country.
2. Lack of basic tourism infrastructure
India is lack in basic tourism infrastructure compare to other developed travel destinations such as the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and many others. You would not find more luxury trains, better roads, and many other.
3. Proper Marketing
India is far behind in international level marketing. Many travel destinations have their own proper as well as targeted marketing to attract tourists. For example, China, United Kingdom, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, Kenya, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and a few others.
4. Bad Reputation
India has improved its reputation in its time but still India is far behind in reputation compare to other popular travel destinations such as Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, Canada, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and many others.
So, its our duty to improve India’s reputation as one of the best travel destinations in the world. Tourism Ministry, Government of India is also working on this campaign through ‘Incredible India’ campaign.
5. Special Price for Foreign Tourists
In many tourist attractions in India, authority has set different prices for entrance to domestic tourists and foreign tourists. The difference is vast and somewhere it is more than double. So, it will not have a good impression about India.
